April 18, 2009 found me on Green River Lake near Columbia, Kentucky for a great day of Crappie fishing. My friend, Terry Partin set this trip up with highly acclaimed Crappie guide David Jones. We fished less than 4 hours and caught 28 “keepers”. Davids “Keepers” are monsters to someone like me that fishes for these “Gentle” fish in the lakes around my home in Ohio. This lake holds some great fish. I really enjoyed spending time with Terry and David, fishing, telling stories from past experiences, and just enjoying God’s creation. I look forward to going with them again in the future. If you like Crappie fishing, contact David Jones for a First Class trip. You won’t be disappointed, as you can see Terry and I in this picture! When at home or on the road, Theresa and I search out Mexican restaurants. We have found some of the best in Texas and New Mexico. Although, some times the salsa is so hot in the southwest we can’t hardly handle it. Here is a picture of Theresa here close to home at one of our favorite places. Theresa is a great cook, but it is still nice to just go out and eat when we are home. Where are the best Mexican restaurants around the country? Let us know and we will look them up when we are on our travels! Theresa came in the office while I was writing this and she said “Every time you write a blog about me, it is always about food”. What can I say? If the shoe fits wear it!

It’s that time again and after an extra long and cold winter, we welcome Spring here in Ohio and the annual Wild Turkey Season. My good friend, Mike Dean came up from West Virginia again to hunt with me. As usual, he wants me to give him some “tips” on calling these awesome birds. I usually let him in on some of my secrets. As you can see, we were successful once again. We always have a good time. How many of you have taken your Turkeys so far? Send in some photos! Are the Turkeys gobbling on the roosts in your area? Some mornings they are here, and some times they are not. Good Luck to all of you!

In 1981 my sister, Geniece Spencer Ingold wrote a song for The Spencer’s 8th album. The song was “IN MY ROBE OF WHITE”. This was the album that broke the Spencer Family into mainstream Gospel radio. This record also included the song I wrote, “When I Crossed That River” that accually was the first “Hit” song we had, followed by Geniece’s song. Soon after we released In My Robe of White, we did a concert with Gold City and they heard the song and immediately wanted to record it. The song went to number 3 on the charts for Gold City. It became one of their signature songs. Brian Free and Assurance still sing it to this day.
Last summer when I was in the studio recording my new album with producer Kevin Ward, Geniece came to me with her latest song. I told her I had already done the tracks on my new CD but I liked it enough to go back to Nashville. Geniece went with Theresa and I and helped get the right “feel” on this song. It is track number 10 on my “FRESH AWAKENING” album and is now available to radio around the world through Radioactiveairplay.com. Call your local radio station and request “New Horizon” by Wade Spencer today.

My wife Theresa learned to make bread while on a 3 month mission trip to Canada when she was 17. Cinnamon bread is her specialty. She hadn’t made it for a while but decided to make some last week. Theresa enjoys her time in the kitchen when we are not on the road, and I enjoy the good “stuff” she comes up with. She took one of these loaves to Pastor Strachen at our church last Wednesday night. He is from Canada, (we’ll excuse him for that) but he knows good bread when he sees it. She is a wonderful cook. Have you met my wife at my concerts or talked with her on the phone while booking a date? Everyone loves Theresa!
