The 2009 Ohio Bow season was cut short for me when I saw this buck on the morning of November 11. He walked 35 yards around me without presenting an opportunity for a clear bow shot. I did capture him on video since I video all my hunts now, now that I have a weekly TV show, “LIFE’S HIGHWAY”.
The next morning, I was trying to call in another nice 8 point so I could get better video footage of him. To my surprise, from the other direction, the buck that I had seen the morning before shows up on the opposite side and was 15 yards from me when I saw him. He was just turning to walk away. I decided I didn’t have time to turn the video camera around so I grabbed my bow and prepared for the shot. I made a perfect hit on the buck. He rough scored 151.
Do any of you bow or gun hunters out there have some pics of your deer this fall? Email them to me at wadespencer@bright.net!

My good friend Leonard Dolce brought me a real nice load of firewood, and my neighbor, Steve Ayers started combining the soybeans around my house today. Just reminders that Autumn is here! My boys, Joel and Thomas and I split and stacked firewood while Theresa baked 3 Lemon Meringue pies. One for her dad, one for our Pastors birthday, and one for us. I love days like this.
Tomorrow, Theresa and I go back on the road. I will be in concerts in Indiana all weekend.
For you hunters out there, I have been out 2 times with my bow so far. I could have taken 3 different 8 points one evening while hunting on the ground but passed on all of them. I’m trying to stay out of the woods and get all my fall work done first, so, when the hunting gets really good, I’ll be free to go. How about you? Any of you taken deer yet? I did take a 4 X 5 Bull Elk with my bow on August 30 in Colorado. My friend Ric Browning also took a 5 X 5 the first day. We had a great trip.
The horse in the picture with me is my new paint, named Scobee. I just had her broke and trained by Tyler Lyon at Lyon’s Ranch in Marysville, Ohio. I didn’t take her with us to Colorado this year, but next year she will go with us.

April 18, 2009 found me on Green River Lake near Columbia, Kentucky for a great day of Crappie fishing. My friend, Terry Partin set this trip up with highly acclaimed Crappie guide David Jones. We fished less than 4 hours and caught 28 “keepers”. Davids “Keepers” are monsters to someone like me that fishes for these “Gentle” fish in the lakes around my home in Ohio. This lake holds some great fish. I really enjoyed spending time with Terry and David, fishing, telling stories from past experiences, and just enjoying God’s creation. I look forward to going with them again in the future. If you like Crappie fishing, contact David Jones for a First Class trip. You won’t be disappointed, as you can see Terry and I in this picture! It’s that time again and after an extra long and cold winter, we welcome Spring here in Ohio and the annual Wild Turkey Season. My good friend, Mike Dean came up from West Virginia again to hunt with me. As usual, he wants me to give him some “tips” on calling these awesome birds. I usually let him in on some of my secrets. As you can see, we were successful once again. We always have a good time. How many of you have taken your Turkeys so far? Send in some photos! Are the Turkeys gobbling on the roosts in your area? Some mornings they are here, and some times they are not. Good Luck to all of you!

I’ve been home for over two weeks from our trip to New Mexico. I have been so busy I am behind on getting this blog posted. A lot of people are wanting to know how we did in New Mexico. We had a great trip. We took two bulls and one cow. As you can see in the picture that I was successful as was Rick Browning on his 5X5 bull, and Mike Dean took a real nice cow elk. Joe Nemecek had opportunities at some cows but chose to wait for a bull. We all really liked New Mexico. I plan to return there one of the years I can’t draw Colorado. You hunters out there that are returning from your western hunts, send me some photos and stories about your experiences!
